KTG Social Care are taking Infection control seriously. As a health and social care company we have always been mindful of infection control, supplying appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE) to our team of carers. We have taken it one step further.

We are constantly being sent information on how we can help prevent Coronavirus (COVID-19) from affecting you and your family. One common factor is that Medical experts agree though that: One of the best ways to stay healthy is to wash your hands with soap and water. But if those aren’t available, hand sanitiser may help rid your hands of unwanted germs.

To help keep our workers and clients safe we are now providing our home care workers with additional protection with our own KTG banded hand sanitiser. Our back office team have been busy sourcing these products and are being dispatched to the teams in the field.

Make sure you choose a sanitiser that contains between 60-95% alcohol, when shopping for hand sanitiser. Also, when you use hand sanitiser, make sure you do so the right way. See this guide released from the World Health Organization to follow the proper technique.

Always read and follow the directions on the back of the bottle, but generally, apply the liquid to the palm of one hand. Then rub it all over both hands until the sanitiser dries, this takes about 20 seconds. Be careful not to wipe the sanitiser off before it’s dry. Doing that can make it not as effective in killing germs.

When to use

Hand sanitiser can be used for a number of uses, such as before and after touching a surface other people have touched,after filling your vehicle with fuel, after handling money, and after touching elevator buttons or door handles. Some supermarkets are now providing products to wipe down the handle of a shopping cart before you use it. Use sanitiser after you’ve pushed a cart around the store.

Remember to always wash your hands with either soap and water after each time you cough and sneeze, and if that is not available use a hand sanitiser.

Things to consider

Using hand sanitiser frequently can make your hands very dry. If that happens, make sure your hands are dry, then apply lotion.

Remember, hand sanitisers won’t get rid of all germs on your hands. And you shouldn’t use sanitisers if your hands are greasy or dirty. There is no substitute for soap and water.
